Guardian sings praises of Libyan war scribes

Here's proof you don't have to fight a war to profit from one.

You can just write a book about the war you didn't fight. Not only can you make a few bucks, but it'll perk up the resume something fierce!

That's the road that Alex Crawford and Lindsey Hilsum have taken. These are two Brit journalists who spent some time covering NATO's war on Libya last year.

The Guardian has nothing but good things to say about their books. It's so much more comfy talking about the books than it is talking about the war, I suppose.

I haven't read the books so I don't know how great they are, but after reading the review I have to say that this Gadaffi chap must have been the most evil of evil dictators.

That fact that the Libyan people enjoyed the highest standard of living in Africa aside, life under the evil dictator must have been awful. A full belly and a roof over your head and a free education at the foreign university of your choice count for nothing when you're not free.

There is one faint hint in the review that maybe the Libyan people were better off before we freed them from the evil dictator. The reviewer concludes with the observation that now that they are free, it is up to them, the Libyan people, to decide what to do with that freedom.

Apparently our work is done.
