I love the smell of fake moral outrage in the morning...

But by noon it's getting a little stale.

There's a bit of a flap going on about a picture of a platoon of Marine snipers posing with a Nazi SS flag.

The military brass are as usual fobbing this faux pas off as a "naive mistake." Seems the Marines in the photo were entirely bereft of any awareness of the "SS" brand.

Taken at face value that claim would be a searing indictment of the American education system. And maybe it is.

But I think that's bullshit. The Marines in the photo were entirely aware of the  significance of their chosen symbols. They were also entirely aware of the message they wanted to impart to anyone who viewed that photo.

We are the meanest motherfuckers in the valley of death. We are the most honorable heirs to the SS killing machine. Nobody, but nobody, ever fucks with us.

And I'm OK with that.

In fact, today's US Marines have advantages that the Nazi era war machine could only dream of.

They are technologically light years ahead of everybody else instead of constantly playing catch up like the Nazis did.

They've got a drone air force that the Nazis could only drool for.

Their country has got a lock on the UN, global media, and all major international financial institutions in a way that the Nazi's could never even have conceived of.

So wave that SS banner proudly, US Marines.

You are indeed the baddest motherfuckers in the valley of death.
