Canada: world leader in morals

That's the opinion of whoever wrote today's leading op-ed in Canada's newspaper of record.

I don't know which of the twats on the masthead is responsible for this exercise in unbridled hubris. Maybe it was a joint effort. It would be difficult for one individual to come up with something so profoundly stupid.

Canada, a light unto the nations...

I think not.

How's that Attawapiskat debacle unfolding, superior Canadian moralists?

What up with that native suicide rate? I hear that native teens in the most moral of nations have a suicide rate 600% higher than non-natives.

Hasn't Mr. Harper just been on an ass-kissing mission to China, trying to wrangle investment money out of those commie capitalists?

Isn't that the same Harper who concluded free-trade agreements with Honduras and Columbia last year, those bellweather icons of human rights in central America?

Isn't this moral exemplar the producer of the dirtiest oil on the planet?

Didn't Canada go all in the last time the big dogs decided to remove a democratically elected leader in Haiti?

Isn't this the NATO pact country that automatically rubber-stamps any bit of idiocy dreamt up by NATO HQ?

Kosovo? We're in!

Libya? We're in!

Afghanistan? We're in!

Isn't this the country that saw no problems with Operation Cast Lead and has never commented on the occupation of the West Bank? Far from having a problem, we are a country whose leadership bends over backwards to assure the Netanyahu crowd of our undying loyalty.

Leader in morals?
